    Rescue Breathing & CPR      
                 
Step 1 G GLOVES PUT YOUR GLOVES ON      
  H HAZARDS CHECK FOR ANY HAZARDS (Personal, Area, Patient)  
  H HELLO HELLO  (Great the patient)      
      SHAKE PATIENT (Shake patient gently)    
      STERNAL RUB  (Gently rub the Patient's sternum)   
  H HELP PHONE FOR HELP (112 from cell phone if in South Africa)
                 
STEP 2 A AIRWAY OPEN AIRWAY (Using Head Tilt Chin Lift if NO Spinal Injuries)
      CHECK IN MOUTH (For any obstructions)    
      CLEAR AIRWAY IF BLOCKED (finger sweep the mouth)
                 
  B BREATHING LOOK, LISTEN & FEEL (10 sec)      
      IF PATIENT IS NOT BREATHING INSERT RESUS AID  
      AND GIVE 2 BREATHS (Chest must rise and fall)  
                 
  C CIRCULATION CHECK FOR A PULSE (10 sec) Corotid Pulse or Brachial Pulse
                 
STEP 3 1 IF PATIENT HAS A PULSE BUT IS NOT BREATHING START    
    RESCUE BREATHING (1 BREATHS EVERY 5 sec)    
                 
  2 IF PATIENT HAS NO PULSE AND NO BREATHING START    
    CPR (2 BREATHS EVERY 30 COMPRESSIONS)      
                 
STEP 4   IF PATIENT HAS A PULSE AND IS BREATHING OR    
    A PULSE AND BREATHING IS RESTORED START    
    DOING A SECONDARY SURVEY        
                 
  1 HISTORY CHAMP To find out why the patient is in this condition

      PULSE RATE RHYTHM DEPTH    
      RESPIRATION RATE RHYTHM DEPTH    
      SKIN TEMP COLOUR DRY/WET    
      Pupils EQUAL IN SIZE AND REACTIVE TO LIGHT
  3 HEAD TO TOE SURVEY (Check Body For Further Injuries)    
                 
STEP 5   PLACE PATIENT IN THE RECOVERY POSITION IF NO    
    CERVICAL OR SPINAL INJURY IS SUSPECTED      
                 
STEP 6   MONITOR VITAL SIGNS UNTIL HELP ARRIVES (Pulse,Respration,Temp,AVPU)
